In honor of Father’s Day – The Complete Guide to Choosing a Tie. (Share with your loved ones, so they do it right!)

My thermostat says -1 degree. It’s time for the man-fur! Calm down PETA, it’s a faux-man-fur (FMF). The picture really says it all. Perfect for erands to The Home Depot, a drink at the Golf Club to retire the February minimum, of course – church, and even a casual dinner with the fam at Chili’s.
I’m a growing fan of direct order clothing from Korea. I’m liking their approach to slim fit and the prices are fantastic! The only problem is the sizing. My 6’1″, 180 pound European frame doesn’t quite jive with the Asian sizes. I end up returning 1 out of 3 orders. This one worked out though – Korean XXL fits like a glove!
No need to exclusively sport the puffy jacket this time of year. The FMF allows weathering the winter chill in style.

First impressions matter. Set yourself up for success!
We’re in that great time of year where the new exciting Spring/Summer lines are beginning to line the shelves. If you’re sick of winter already, you can at least picture yourself on the horizon, sporting these lighter fashions. It’s also a time for incredible sales on the leftover pre-Christmas inventories. You can score big, and still get a few months of in-year utility till spring. I’ll continue to share these as they come in.
I’m focused on the new ultra light puffy vests. I find the Uniqlo and Northface brands in particularly interesting, both for warmth and fashion. As I mentioned in a previous blog Trending: an Overcoatless Winter, these warm, sleek vests can fashionably replace the winter overcoat.
I was at the midtown NYC Uniqlo this week and tried several on. There are tons of great, pastel colors, and they are truly super light. Thin too. I’d say about 50% less bulky than the Lands End one I own (which isn’t all that bulky either). Only one issue – they WEREN’T ON SALE!
Now at $49.50, they are very affordable. I’d put them at parity for quality and fashion against the Northface (selling for $130). But this is the season for DEALS, and $49.50 is the everyday price! I’m in stalking mode for the big sale. Will keep you posted.

Loving these kicks! Adding them to my acquisition list.
Cable knit zip with a faux fur collar. Loving the faux, and craving more. 2013 could be the year of faux.
Forgot that last minute gift for Christmas dinner? Here’s a great recommendation!
Merry Christmas all…
Revelry Vintners Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 Walla Walla
Happy, merry, gay, gleeful, blissful, carefree, joie de vie, ah, words
that should be apropos adjectives of all holidays. I hope that between December 1st and January 1st, your days are filled with festivities, loved ones, good food, and great wine!
Here is one word you might want to add to your favorite word (and wine) stock pile: Revelry.
Revelry Vintners makes terrific wine. When my husband and friend and I were in Walla Walla this fall, this was one of the wineries we stumbled into that we hadn’t researched and reviewed ahead of time. More often than not, when I venture into a tasting room I haven’t heard of before, if it’s recommended by another tasting room, it’s generally outstanding. I fell in love with a couple of their reds and especially their Riesling, which I plan to review later.
For now, I’m sticking with their grand master red, their 2009 Red Mountain…

Great trunks! Time to start thinking about that winter trip to a warm places (for those of us in the colder climates). Like the artical says though, Latitude Supply makes limited quantities. They’re sold out 😦 I’m now on the hunt. Will keep you posted…
Never Drop Anchor, Always Keep Exploring …
What a great tagline for a travel-worthy collection of clothing that The New Man and even the men of the past will like. Latitude Supply Co. carries its marker well. It’s worth a look.
The company is out of Southern California, but doesn’t have a flagship store … as one might expect with a creative flare that keeps it on the move. Apparently the clothing they offer moves so fast and furiously that even their featured outlet partners can’t keep their supplies locked down – too many Pirates trying to get their hands on these clothing treasures!
But I’m not writing just to joke about their travel appeal. What I really like – out of many of the clothes they carry – are their trunks, which are really beach or casual wear. As you can tell, they look relaxed, make a man…

Great ideas. I’m now on the prowl for The Wyatt jacket, by Thomas Pink. I have a “Cookie & Cocktail” party tonight. I’ve been trying to figure out the perfect cookie party jacket, and me thinks I found it.
